FBISE Introduces A++ to D Grading System for Matric & Inter Students — Major Change in Pakistan’s Education Policy

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has officially introduced a new grading system for Matric and Inter students across Pakistan. This major reform aims to modernize the evaluation process and align it with international education standards.

🎓 FBISE New Grading Policy 2025 (October Update)

Starting from the academic session 2025, the traditional marks-based system will be replaced with a grade-based evaluation system. Students will now receive grades ranging from A++ to D, based on their performance instead of exact marks.

📚 The initiative has been taken to reduce exam pressure, encourage conceptual learning, and ensure fair assessment for all students under the new education reforms by the Ministry of Education.

🧾 FBISE A++ to D Grade Scale

Here’s the official breakdown of the new grading scale announced by FBISE:

🏫 Impact on Matric and Inter Students

Under the new grading system, students will receive a Grade Card instead of a traditional marksheet. This card will include grades, GPA, and remarks reflecting their academic progress.

This step is part of Pakistan’s broader education reform initiative 2025, which aims to improve transparency, reduce rote learning, and encourage skill-based education.

💡 Teachers will also undergo special training programs to adapt to the new grading and evaluation model, ensuring smooth implementation across all affiliated institutions.

📈 Benefits of the New Grading System

  • Promotes conceptual understanding over memorization.
  • Reduces student anxiety and competition.
  • Aligns Pakistan’s system with international education standards.
  • Encourages fair and consistent evaluation practices.

🕒 Implementation Timeline

The A++ to D grading scale will be fully implemented for Matric (9th–10th) and Intermediate (11th–12th) exams starting from the 2025 academic year, and all affiliated boards are expected to adopt this model gradually.
